The Great Adventure Lab is an after-school science enrichment program that runs in 50+ schools in the D.C. area. We’ve taught thousands of kids how to write their first robotics programs or video game programs (or both!). We also teach science, engineering, electronics...and more! We do it all with SMALL class sizes with an adult to student ratio of 6:1. Our goal is to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics irresistibly FUN for the next generation.

You can read all about our classes and birthday parties at The site includes plenty of photos and links to videos from our classes!

We are an LLC based in Silver Spring, MD. We are fully insured and our instructors have passed background checks including FBI and state fingerprinting.

Here are mini-descriptions of our Spring 2015 offerings at Flora Singer ES.  Please follow links for complete details, including photos!  Room numbers TBD. Instructor will send welcome email several days before class.

This is our core class in which beginners learn to build and program LEGO® robots using LEGO® Education's award-winning WeDo robotics and programming software. Students follow step-by-step on-screen instructions to build their own robots and a suggested program. Students who are ready can develop more complicated programs involving motion or tilt sensors. In the final class, we take off the training wheels and challenge students to design, build, and program robots that can achieve a certain task.

Does your kid dream of writing his or her own video games, creating cartoons, or making animations?

We’ve found a great way to get started: Scratch, the super-simple drag-and-drop multimedia programming language designed by MIT’s Lifelong Kindergarten project. The Great Adventure Lab’s trained instructors can teach your child how to make characters walk, talk, and interact with a keyboard/mouse or other programmed characters. Each student will build his or her own game.
